She graduated in 2000 from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed an equine medicine and surgery internship at Las Colinas Veterinary Center outside of Dallas, Texas. Jenn is passionate about the human-horse bond and the healing power of horses, and is a sucker for a cute Quarter Horse.

Her other veterinary interests include endocrinology and management of the equine foot. Jessica’s admiration for horses began at a young age and she has dabbled in several riding disciplines including hunt seat, Western (both at the intercollegiate level), and trail riding. More recently, she has discovered a passion for the exciting new sport of Working Equitation. When she can find the time, she enjoys exploring the great outdoors on her horse, Rugby, and playing with her dog, Lottie, and cat, Trevor. She’s also quite a gifted artist!

Dr. Kaylin Beatty
Kaylin, originally from Minnesota, earned her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She further honed her skills during a year-long internship at Bend Equine Medical Center in central Oregon, where she provided primary and referral care to a diverse range of horses and donkeys in both hospital and field settings. Kaylin’s professional interests include sports medicine, emergency care, reproduction, and foal care, with a strong focus on client education. Outside of work, she enjoys following the thoroughbred racing industry, eventing with her horse, Crispy, attending live music events, and spending time with her partner, who is also an equine veterinarian in the area. Kaylin is excited to connect with the clients and patients of Haymarket Veterinary Service and explore all that Northern Virginia has to offer.

Dr. Shannon DeArmas

However, her passion for veterinary medicine led her to a new path. She earned her veterinary degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Shannon’s career began in North Carolina, where she practiced for 12 years. In 2011, Shannon returned to Northern Virginia and has been practicing in the area ever since. Over time, her equine interests have broadened, and she has developed a deep enthusiasm for both donkeys and Icelandic horses! Her professional interests include ophthalmology, reproduction, and podiatry. Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time on the trails with her horse, Skramur, and her loyal Jack Russell Terrier, Joey.

Mary Kate earned her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech before attending the University of Florida for veterinary school. Afterward, she returned to Virginia to complete an internship at Woodside Equine Clinic in Ashland. Jade Del Rosario
Jade’s interest in horses began on a trail ride while vacationing in Hawaii as a child. Her riding experience led her first to the hunter/jumper ring but then she found the world of polo and was hooked! Now her interest in equine veterinary care is blossoming and she has become an asset to the Haymarket team. Besides horses, Jade loves going fishing and being outdoors, and still finds time to study for her classes!

Anna Ernst
Anna is from Southern California and started riding at a young age before moving to Northern Virginia in 2008. Once here, she immersed herself in everything equestrian, dabbling in eventing first before finding her true passion as a show jumper. Her career in the equestrian industry began as a riding instructor and expanded to include barn management, as well as equine fitness and rehabilitation work. The well-being of horses has always been of utmost importance to Anna and she is proud to be a part of the Haymarket team in this pursuit. Outside of the barn, you can find Anna attending concerts, relaxing at her family’s pond, or winery hopping through Middleburg.

OFFICE STAFF

Liam Burke
Owner/Office Manager
Prior to joining Haymarket Vet Service, Liam gained a wide variety of experience from his career that first took him around the world and then landed him a position in Prince William County. Now, you’ll usually find him managing the office, but he makes “guest appearances” on the road assisting the vets or dropping off medications to your barn. He’s quick to answer the phone but be prepared to joke around with him when he does! When not working at HVS, you’ll find Liam with his family, running the trails of the Battlefield, or in the barn with their four mini donkeys.

Mary Averill
Account Services Specialist
Mary is the person that keeps our “books” organized at Haymarket Vet Service! Prior to being our bookkeeper, she had been an auditor for the federal government for over 30 years. Her favorite things about working here are speaking with our clients regularly and ensuring that all of their billing questions and problems are resolved. When she’s not working, Mary enjoys spending time with her family and three dogs, Copper, Chewy, and Teddy.

Alissa Graham
Alissa has been a vital member of the HVS team since 2001. She has excellent organizational skills and enjoys creating strong, lasting relationships with clients and their horses. Though she enjoys all equestrian disciplines, Quarter Horses have a special place in her heart and trail riding is one of her favorite past times. When she‘s not horsin’ around, she likes traveling, reading, photography, and spending time with her hubby and two kids.

Joanne Brown
Joanne is dedicated to going the extra mile in her communication with clients about their horses. Raised in Southern Maryland, she spent her youth riding whenever she could, gaining valuable experience over the years. Now an essential member of the office staff, Joanne enjoys building strong relationships with clients. Outside of work, she lives on a small farm in Rappahannock with her husband, two children, and their horses. She finds joy in training her young horse, Athena, and her German Shepherd, Duke, both of whom bring her great happiness.

Abby Scrivener
Abby discovered her love for horses in San Diego, CA, where she worked as a student under the guidance of some of Southern California’s top professionals. After high school, she sold her show jumper and adopted Poppy, a sweet QH mare, from a Texas auction. Over time, Abby and Poppy have bonded through various riding activities. In 2023, Abby and her husband, Sean, relocated to Quantico, Virginia, where they’ve decided to settle down. Outside of work, Abby enjoys spending time with Poppy, caring for their three dogs, flock of ducks, and chickens, and fishing with Sean.

Patrick Burke
Patrick started helping out with the family business at a young age. At first, he occasionally rode with Dr. Katy just to get to know what goes on when we’re out on the road. Now, he’s an integral part of inventory management and learning how all of these medications can help us treat your horses. Although high school takes up most of his time, Patrick still enjoys unwinding with the family dogs, Rocky and Sadie, and hanging out with friends. He’s also passionate about music and is often seen with an AirPod in one ear—feel free to ask him what he’s listening to!
